Professional Expertise

Maxwell Goodwin: Principal Broker of Millbrook Real Estate,  was born and raised in the Lake District in the UK.  He enjoyed the privelege of spending his childhood in one

of  the most beautiful places on the planet. He had dogs, rabbits and horses as well as three siblings. In 1977 after a year in Africa

and a year working for a construction company, he attended the University of Wales, Aberystwyth and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science

in Economics in 1980.   (This surprised a number of people).  He was awarded a scholarship and attended the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia

and graduated with a Master of Arts in International Relations.  He worked for the French national steel company, USINOR, for a number of happy years in New York City

where he managed the High Carbon Steel product lines.  After a year or so with a fledgling internet start-up company called Global Analysis in 1988, also in New York,

marriage beckoned along with the responsibility of fatherhood.

Discovering the Millbrook area in 1991, and already in property development, he decided to focus his attentions on Dutchess County, an area of amazing natural beauty.

In 1993 he became involved in the residential brokerage market, mostly to save commissions on transactions.  He spent four years with Sotheby’s before starting his own

brokerage company in 1998.  He moved to the area full-time in 1998 with their two boys, after commuting almost daily from New York City.

Max has built, renovated and moved a number of homes in the area, but has been living happily in the Shekomeko Valley, north of Millbrook, with his wife Victoria and

the boys, for the last ten years.
